About The Roles

The TA position was created to provide support for our Trades Training Program with skilled assistance for our Instructor/Site Supervisors, and also to provide part-time professional construction opportunities to our program graduates.

Responsibilities
Training Assistant 

Location: Durham Tech and Wake Tech

● Assist the Instructor (as directed) with instruction during hands-on training sessions, including
basic woodworking, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall and tiling projects.
● Provide one-on-one and group support for trainees in both classroom and job site settings.
● Demonstrate and supervise construction techniques, tool usage, and safety protocols.
● Provide constructive feedback to trainees. Collaborate with Instructors to assess trainee progress
and assess skill gaps.
● Serve as a mentor to trainees, encouraging professional growth and confidence.
● Other duties as assigned, including set-up and organization of tools/supplies, making copies, and working with trainees to clean up.

Position status: 1099 Contractor, as needed for specific days

Compensation: $18 per hour

All TAs will receive a copy of the guide with detailed information about the position and expectations, and will be required to sign an acknowledgement that they have reviewed it. The guide is also linked here for your convenience.


Once you are approved to work as a TA, you may sign up for and view shifts here. Please remember to limit your sign-ups to 3 primary shifts and 3 back up shifts per cohort.
