Construction Manager

Full Time, Salaried

Position Overview

The Construction Manager will oversee the renovation, repair, modification, and rehabilitation work carried out by Hope Renovations in the community.  This position will report to the CEO and will manage 1-2 part-time team members.


Depending on the construction project and organizational relationships, these duties would be carried out either in cooperation with the general contractor or, if Hope Renovations is the general contractor, then in cooperation with the Hope Renovations team.

   Job Supervision

  • Manage and coordinate all activity on the construction site.

  • Lead and assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks including (but not limited to) demolition, site prep, framing, insulation, drywall, flooring, finish carpentry, landscaping, “light” plumbing and electrical.

  • Provide project assessments and assist in creation of estimates/bids as needed

  • Develop detailed construction plan and schedules

  • Prepare the work site for workdays

  • Organize tools and materials before and after every workday

  • Assist in determining staffing and subcontracting needs

  • Coordinate and monitor the progress and quality of work

  • Communicate with Director of Operations to order supplies and materials

  • Communicate effectively with clients/customers

  • Coordinate deliveries to job sites

  • Responsible for the organization of the site: materials, equipment, vehicles, etc.

  • Maintain a safe and clean site

  • Manage recycling, trash, and storage of materials

  • Communicate with inspections and accompany inspector where possible

  • Work with staff and Hope Renovations team to stay on schedule and communicate delays

  • Monitor construction costs and work to reduce costs as much as possible


   Work Supervision

  • Define weekly work assignments and priorities for construction staff and subcontractors

  • Ensure work-site safety, learning of safety procedures, and proper construction techniques

  • Supervise and assign tasks to construction staff and/or subcontractors

  • Provide first aid as necessary

  • Keep CEO informed of progress, problems, and training needs

  • Understand Hope Renovations mission and be able to convey it to staff, subcontractors, trainees and clients


Preferred Qualifications

  • On-site experience in construction/skilled trades

  • Strong construction knowledge and skills including carpentry, drywall, paint, light plumbing and electrical

  • Demonstrated experience in construction site supervision

  • Physical ability to work outdoors and in cramped spaces such as crawlspaces and attics

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds

  • Knowledge of construction tool safety, use and upkeep

  • Experience or interest in training women in the construction trades and a strong commitment to helping women succeed in an innovative training program to improve their lives and promote leadership skills

  • Understanding of the issues facing women in the trades

  • Experience in supervising and training staff

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Strong communication skills

  • Positive relationships with local tradespeople and businesses

  • Associates degree

Position hours: Daytime hours, some evenings and weekends throughout the year

Salary: $45,000 annually
