Our CEO and Founder, Nora El-Khouri Spencer, fiercely pushes back on the characterization of our job training as "wasteful," in a segment with Chapelboro. Nora emphasizes the impact Hope has on individual lives and the critical need to diversify the construction workforce.

The piece delves into the recent, unexpected termination of our crucial Women in Apprenticeships and Non-Traditional Occupations (WANTO) grant. This funding directly supported our mission of training and empowering underrepresented women for living-wage careers in construction.

As the article details, the grant was abruptly cut, with the stated reason being that our program "no longer effectuates the U.S. Department of Labor’s priorities... with regard to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility" – specifically citing language from our application that highlights our work with women of color and other underserved populations.
